FAQ

Where is your office?

Currently, I am only seeing clients via teletherapy.

We meet on Zoom, a HIPAA-approved meeting platform, while you enjoy the comfort of your home or office.

Teletherapy is a convenient way to work together since you won’t be taking time and energy out of your day to drive to an office.

How long are your sessions?
Sessions are 45-50 minutes. Longer sessions are available depending on your circumstances. We can discuss this together.
What is your fee?
I charge $325 for a 50-minute session.
How do I pay you?
I will charge your credit card using Square, a HIPAA-compliant mobile app that is secure and confidential.
Do you take insurance?
I do not take insurance. I will provide you with a Superbill for you to submit to your insurance company.
Are there forms to complete before beginning therapy?
Yes. I will send you forms electronically after your first appointment.
Can I call, email, or text you between sessions?

If you need to communicate between sessions, please call or email. I will likely respond quicker (within a few hours) to a phone call.

Communication by text is only for scheduling and confirming appointments because text messages are not a secure form of communication.

In the event there is an emergency, call 911 for assistance and visit your local emergency room.

What is your cancellation policy?
I charge for sessions canceled less than 48 hours in advance, unless you have a true emergency or if we can schedule another time to meet in the same week as your appointment.
How can I schedule an appointment?

You can call (310) 699-2380 or email edwinsharris@gmail.com.

How do I prepare for my Zoom Meeting?

To prepare for our Zoom session, please choose a private and quiet space with good Wi-Fi. Turn off all other devices, including cell phones, and hold all your calls. For your safety, please avoid driving during our session time.

Having a cup of coffee or tea is welcome, but I ask that you not eat during our sessions as this may distract you from being fully present and attending to yourself.

Do you communicate with other treatment professionals?
Yes. During our work together, I may ask you if you have any providers with whom you would like me to communicate. (These might be physicians, psychiatrists, former therapists, treatment centers, etc.) If so, I will ask you to sign a Release of Information form so that I may speak with these providers regarding your care.
You say that you sometimes work with spirituality and psychotherapy. What if I don’t want to work on spiritual issues in therapy?
I will follow your lead and will not introduce or work on spiritual issues unless you decide that it’s an area of interest for you. We will work together to identify what is interfering in your life and how you can get the results that you want.
Are you married? Do you have a family of your own?
Yes. I have been married for 39 years and have three adult children and three grandchildren. I understand the challenges that couples face to make a successful long-term relationship.
What is the best beach in Los Angeles for bodysurfing?
I love Venice Beach at low tide. Take Culver Blvd. as far West as you can, and you’re there. Jump in and enjoy!
