Licensed therapists still face challenging clinical issues
You’re up and running, have your license, and are excited to be doing what you love.
And there are still so many unanswered questions.
What do I do when I feel triggered by what a client says or does?
How do I know the most effective interventions?
When do I make suggestions, and when do I hold back?
How do I reenergize myself in my work?
Case supervision helps you be a better therapist.
I offer individual or small group sessions that are Gestalt-oriented.
You present your challenging cases and receive feedback on your work, including what is effective and what interferes.
You can gain new perspectives and strategies to broaden your range as a therapist.
And you can incorporate relevant didactic information to strengthen your understanding of the clinical issues.
Training therapists has been a passion of mine for many years.
I love to see therapists discover new skills, find their creativity, and expand their boundaries toward more effective clinical work.
I have taught, trained, and supervised over 200 therapists, Psychiatry residents, graduate students, and pastoral counselors in my 40 years of practice.
I completed the three-year Gestalt Therapy Training Program with Erv and Miriam Polster at the Gestalt Training Center San Diego. I also trained at the Gestalt Therapy Institute of Los Angeles, and I completed the Couples and Family Training Program with Joseph Zinker and Sonia Nevis at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland, and the Gestalt International Study Center.

Dr. Edwin Harris changed my professional and personal life! Over ten years ago, I started his 2-year Gestalt Training program and subsequently continued in supervision. I came to both programs with an established private practice, extensive experience working with at-risk children, and a doctorate in general counseling. Yet, through his superior insights and feedback, my therapeutic work transformed. Under Dr. Harris’s tutelage, I became a more confident, competent, and impactful therapist.

I want to thank you for the outstanding guidance and teaching you are providing. I have never had true supervision that in any way compares with what I have received from you. I see how much I have learned so thank you, truly, for all you have done for me to help me grow as a therapist.

The two-year Gestalt Training Program was the best training of my career. The concepts are simple, putting them to work with clients is a challenge. I was grateful for the other trainees and Ed Harris’ masterful guidance. It was amazing to watch him work with us and, later, to get supervision from him. The techniques are powerful; Ed Harris is a genius. Best. Teacher. Ever.

Ed’s training program was exactly what I needed to jump start my career as a therapist after years in school social work/counseling. It afforded me the opportunity to practice my skills as a therapist in a safe environment with other trusted clinicians while also fully immersing myself in the study of Gestalt therapy as a theoretical framework. Ed’s ability to bring theory and practice together is something that I’ve rarely seen in my 12 years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. It was a great decision to take part in this wonderful learning opportunity!

I am a former student of Ed Harris, having done his intensive, two-year Gestalt therapy training program. He is a gifted and compassionate “seer” who can quickly spot, articulate, and illuminate highly complex and subtle ways of being, interacting and communicating – all in a way that is easily digested and put to use immediately. Sitting with Ed is like having the chandelier above you suddenly switch on– in the most wonderful way. I’ve applied this work both personally and professionally as a therapist and a coach. Having experienced many teachers over the years, in my opinion, he’s one of the best and most unique in his ability to help anyone improve almost any aspect of their lives.
